October is Down Syndrome Awareness month and I am so honored to have worked close with an organization called Club 21. As I mentioned in my other blogs, I love to donate my time to disabled ill children each month offering free photo shoots to the children & families. As a parent I know the importance of spending quality time with your child, protecting them, and caring for them, can be overwhelming. Children born with DS (Down Syndrome) have a low muscle tone known as Hypotonia, learning difficulties, poor cardiac health, thyroid dysfunction, low bone density, and sometimes leukemia. So with everything a parent has to worry for I do my best to give them 15-30mins of a fun session with the goal to capture their child’s personality.
My latest DS charity event.
A few weeks I had the pleasure and honor to work with the organization Club 21 and helping them organize a mini DS reunion and do some fun portraits. Here is a photo of a few children that participated in this fun reunion. If you would like to help this organization all donations will go to providing educational tools and resources to all individuals with T21.
Thank you for your time.

When starting your business it can be very stressful building it from the ground up. I will say what took me a few days to figure out was the permanent name to my business. I mean, this is like naming your “child” and I wanted to make sure I didn’t use a name I’ll someday regret. I knew I wanted to use a name inspired by my ultimate favorite band Depeche Mode. So I decided to binge on their albums and one name of a song stuck with me….’Sweetest Perfection’. This song has an awesome title but the lyrics speaks of addition, not necessarily about drugs. I think we all have a ‘something’ we may say we can’t live without or be addicted too.
My love for photography runs through my blood and without it I don’t know how I’ll live without it. Regardless how you want to interpret the song it just sounded perfect for my business name. During my photo sessions I encourage a more natural candid environment in hopes to capture genuine sweet but almost perfect photos. Photos are memories frozen forever in time, a moment never forgotten as long as you have that photo.
My name is Veronica from Los Angeles, California, I am the proud owner of Sweetest Perfection Photography. I’ve been a photographer over 20+ years but never officially made it into a business until October 2020. While 2020 was truly devastating for many of us, I decided to turn something negative into something positive. How so you may be wondering ? I was unfortunately one of the millions who lost their regular job left lost in my thoughts how I would help financially for my family.
Lets rewind time for a bit…
When I was 16 years old my dad bought me a used Canon film camera at a local pawn shop. My father ‘lived’ for the deals and he came across this deal that became my blessing. During my Jr. High school years I signed up for an elective class which was… photography. There I learned the magic of film development and I was able to use the camera my dad had bought me. Then right out of high school I had to get a job ASAP to help pay for my college and I truly didn’t want to work for a fast food restaurant so I was ecstatic when I got my first job as a photographer for Sears Portrait Studios. During the 5 years I worked there I learned how to photograph all types of people with different personalities and also got certified in all photography categories. After working for Sears Portraits for 5 years I decided to pursue my own journey as a photographer and work for the medical field.
Fast forward time…
I am a wife, a mother, a pet ‘collector’, a plant/flower collector, and a coffee addict. Before Covid happened I was a Project Manager which allowed me to work from home and be with my baby. This job was awesome and paid the bills. Unfortunately I was laid off August 2020 feeling lost and with so much anxiety by this unexpected loss. So for two months I was depressed and had so much time to watch the news on so much deaths and tragedies. So to break from that funk I picked up my camera and started going out to photograph any random item that brought joy to me. Soon after a light bulb turned on giving me the idea that I can do what I love, what I’m passionate about, be my own boss, and be with my family. That is when I decided to purse my business which is now….Sweetest Perfection Photography!
My one year anniversary of starting my business is coming up October 1st and its been an amazing start. Within the year of starting my business, what started off negative has been such a blessing. I’ve been featured many times on Instagram, I’ve been published 8 times on a few magazines, selected to be interviewed on “All In With Bryan Weatherford” to promote my business, and selected to work with my local community on several projects (projects I’ll discuss more on future blogs). One thing I will say that I do that stands out from other photographers is that I don’t mind doing FREE photoshoots. I’ve started doing free photoshoots for disabled children with either Down Syndrome, Autism, Cancer, and etc. Each month I reach out to my local community offering my services looking for a family who would want a free photoshoot to capture many sweet memories. During the time when I was home, sad, jobless, and watching tragic news it made me realize exactly how short life is and the unexpected can be expected. It is why I do these services because many of these children are battling illnesses they shouldn’t and unfortunately these illness wins sometimes. My goal for 2022 is to reach out too many families and give them a smile and help them forget their worries for at least 15mins. Another goal is booking more events, I absolutely love weddings even though the days are long and tiring they are also a lot of fun. Final goal is to reach out to more people I can inspire to do the same in their communities by giving 15mins of their time and use their talents doing good for someone ill. I will tell you my goal is not FAME…I just love what I do and I want to share that passion with many. I believe pictures are priceless memories frozen in time that will never be forgotten as long as you have that photo close by.
